Values & Sustainability

From the vision for GNRSLY:
We will be a good example of a startup which others want to study, copy and associate with by growing with holistic sustainability as our our core and guiding star. Our Breeze offer will attract many types and groups of people wishing to invest in this relationship-building model.

The threads of our sustainability thinking

Three threads run through the company: the red, the green and the black one. Red stands for warmth and commitment to social sustainability. Green means that climate improvement measures are woven into the work. Black numbers on the last line of the income statement are necessary for our customers as well as for us. Twined together, they strengthen each other and the overall durability increases. This is how we believe holistic sustainability works.

 

Holistic sustainability

GNRSLY should constantly develop in a holistically sustainable direction. GNRSLY strives for a business where the different aspects of sustainability are integrated and interdependent, and where the whole becomes greater than the sum of the individual components. GNRSLY’s clearest sustainability value lies in the social aspect. Swedes are matched with immigrating professionals, and are offered a program where they learn about cultural adaptation and are given good conditions to cultivate a mutual relationship with local Swedes. As a result, deep friendships may arise along the way. When GNRSLY succeeds, we will have contributed to well-being at the personal level, to productivity and results at the company level, and to integration, development and sustainable growth at the societal level. Social sustainability thus also drives economic sustainability in several ways.

When GNRSLY recruits employees, we offer equal pay and fair terms.

GNRSLY as a service company has a naturally high level of climate sustainability as we offer a service without material production. We avoid printed matter, for example, and when traveling, we prioritize the more environmentally friendly solutions. Purchases are made mainly from suppliers with good environmental work. We try to inspire our suppliers and participants to take active steps to reduce their climate footprints, and we challenge ourselves with clear goals. For the climate impact we have have not yet succeeded in reducing, we will carbon offset. This is done as a last resort, and through as credible and effective initiatives as we can find.

  • GNRSLY must work in a way that is consistent with both how good friendships are cultivated and how a good society is built. That we are what we claim to be and do what we say we do is a crucial argument for our services and our reason to exist, in other words integrity.
  • Pay it forward means that we  have experienced what it means to have a Home away from Home. Through GNRSLY, we want to pass this on to more people. Through the Breeze we try to multiply it by offering our participants to facilitate the participation for even more people.
  • Relationships that develop into friendships presuppose generosity and reciprocity, which should also characterize the business.
  • Identity means that GNRSLY’s values ​​can be seen in the employees and the employees must be able to recognize their own values ​​in the way the company’s acts.
  • GNRSLY wants to be a company that is well thought out in terms of holistic sustainability and that consistently implements its sustainability plan. This means, for example, that the company has the best conditions to succeed financially when social sustainability is in focus and environmental considerations are integrated into the company’s decisions and activities.
  • Transparency builds trust and means that it should be possible for those interested to understand how GNRSLY thinks, plans, acts, follows up, learns and develops.
  • To be on our way is important because we do not believe in “passing a finish line” or “being perfect” as reasonable or constructive ideals in life or society. Therefore, our learning as well as effortd concerning quality and improvement must also be characterized by dialogue.

 

What GNRSLY is and wants to be

We are a small, flexible startup (Q3-21) with a small ecological footprint, and which has the ambition to have sustainability as a foundation in the business, not as an option.

GNRSLY wants to develop so that:

  • goods and services we buy and consume are reasonably sustainable. We are interested in how our partners and established suppliers work with their sustainability.
  • we develop environmentally sound working methods. It may mean that we take bicycles rather than public transport, public transport rather than cars, and trains rather than flights. We want to increase our use of, for example, car-sharing, in order to be able to phase out car ownership in the long term. We constantly ask ourselves which meetings it is justified to travel to instead of meeting online. It can also be about sharing a coworking space and to be working from home, instead of renting permanent office space.
  • we encourage and influence our customers, participants and employees to a sustainable lifestyle, like simple things such as food and shopping habits.

Agenda 2030 and GNRSLY's three sustainability threads

We have identified links in our operations to the UN’s Agenda 2030 and the 17 Global Sustainability Goals (SDG) https://sdgs.un.org/goals.

  • The red, socially sustainable thread is linked to the goals of gender equality (5), decent work and economic growth (8), as well as reduced inequalities (10).
  • The green, ecologically sustainable thread is linked to the goals of responsible consumption and production (12) and to climate action to combat climate change and its impacts (13).
  • The black, economically sustainable thread also links to the goals of economic growth (8) and reducedinequalities (10).

Identity and integrity

We encourage our participants to take new steps in holistic sustainability.  We believe that values in the company have the greatest chance of being put into practice if the co-workers identify with them on a personal level, so that private life and professional life coincide in terms of values. Dialogue must be held with the employees about the balance between work, leisure and family.
